8: Some Meats
Thick, dense protein lacks fiber and thus can cause your colon to go into a literal spasm, and this contracting is going to upset your IBS something fierce. That being said, you don’t have to completely give every single type of meat up. Chicken, turkey, and even pork can be okay. (Turkey bacon, anyone?!). It’s red meat that’s mostly the culprit here due to the fact that it’s fatty and has a much lower water content than other sorts of meats. Though like everything else with IBS, keep that moderation in mind.
9: Milk Chocolate
You’ve already had bacon and coffee robbed from you, so let’s try to be a bit gentler with the whole chocolate thing. Dark chocolate is okay, as it uses a lot less cocoa butter and sugar. The flavor is mostly from the actual cocoa beans, and your body is going to handle it much better. Milk chocolate, however, like the random candy bar, has a lot more fat and a whole lot more sugar. Both of these things are bad for your digestive tract, which can cause IBS issues.
