10 Home Remedies for an Ear Infection

8. Onion

It’s amazing just how many common items you can find that can help to draw out an infection and heal it up. Onions can do this. They have very powerful antifungal properties. What you want to do is effectively juice an onion. Cut an onion in half and put it into a pan over low heat for about 10 minutes. Allow it to cool enough to handle and then squeeze the juice out. Allow it to cool down even further and then place 2 or 3 drops of this juice into your ear. Get a basic white onion, not a red one or a sweet variety.

9. Hydrogen Peroxide

Peroxide is pretty strong stuff, which you may know if you’ve ever watched it foam when putting it onto a scab. It’s basically eating through and eliminating the present bacteria. This will also happen in your ear, with the infection and any built-up wax, but you want to really dilute the product before trying this. Put about a cap-full in a half cup of warm water, and then put a few drops in your ear. Doing this with pure peroxide might be too powerful and could damage the ear.
