10 Common Causes of Dizziness

8. Hormonal changes

Hormonal changes happen to women during menstruation, ovulation, and menopause. Hormones are critical in balancing the body’s blood sugar levels. This affects how the body responds to insulin, which makes it hard for the body to stabilize blood sugar. Dizziness due to hormonal changes is not an obvious occurrence, but women experiencing hypoglycemia and hypertension tend to experience dizziness during different periods of their menstrual cycle.

9. Panic Attacks

If you are prone to panic attacks then you may experience dizziness right before an episode. Anxiety causes the person with panic attacks to hyperventilate. A person hyperventilating experiences unnatural breathing that deprives the brain of oxygen, leading to dizziness. Hyperventilation increases stress levels, and the person unconsciously begins to breathe too rapidly. Rapid breathing leads to changes in the acid-base balance or blood pH, leading to panic and anxiety. Lowering stress levels goes a long way in reducing and or preventing panic attacks and dizziness.
