Eye twitching, also known as blepharospasm, is a condition characterized by involuntary and repetitive spasms or twitches of the eyelid. It is a common occurrence that affects almost everyone at some point in their lives. While most instances of eye twitching are harmless and can be easily controlled, there are cases where it may indicate an underlying brain or nerve disorder.
Why Do We Experience Eye Twitches When We Have Excess Energy or Fatigue?
Experiencing eye twitches is a common occurrence when we have excess energy or fatigue. There can be various factors contributing to this phenomenon, such as a temporary increase in physical activity or the consumption of caffeinated beverages like coffee. Interestingly, the eyelids are particularly susceptible to these temporary increases in energy levels. Eye twitches can happen during periods of heightened activity as well as when we are feeling advanced fatigue.
Although the exact reasons behind eye twitches are still not fully understood, it is believed that the activation of brain regions that innervate the eyelids may play a role. These brain regions could be responsible for initiating the involuntary contractions and spasms that result in eye twitching.
Causes of Eye Irritation
Eye irritation can be caused by various factors, including physical events and conjunctivitis, which is an infection of the conjunctiva. Additionally, prolonged screen time can also lead to eye irritation, resulting in involuntary twitching of the eyelid. If the irritation persists over a long period, it can become chronic and may even continue even without the initial stimulus.
