MTHFR Mutations
MTHFR genetic mutations have been associated with various health issues, such as mental health disorders, colon cancer, leukemia, and more. These mutations can impair the body’s ability to effectively eliminate toxins like lead and mercury. However, increasing the intake of methyl-B6, methyl-B12, and folic acid may potentially mitigate the effects of MTHFR mutations. Although some studies suggest a potential connection between defects in the MTHFR gene and fibromyalgia, this link remains unproven at present.
Glutathione Deficiency: An Antioxidant Shortage
Glutathione, known as the “master antioxidant,” plays a crucial role in the body’s detoxification process by reducing oxidative stress. Individuals with fibromyalgia often exhibit lower levels of glutathione compared to those without the condition. However, it remains uncertain whether increasing glutathione levels through supplementation effectively alleviates fibromyalgia symptoms.
