The Sleepwalker: Appearances Can Be Deceiving

When it comes to sleepwalking, appearances can be deceiving. Sleepwalkers often have their eyes wide open and may engage in coherent conversations while in a state of sleep. This can make it challenging to distinguish whether they are truly awake or still in the depths of slumber. It’s not uncommon for the revelations to come only the following day when the sleepwalker has absolutely no recollection of the previous night’s interaction. If the person has no memory of that period, it is highly likely that they were indeed sleepwalking.


Sleepwalking Can Lead to Daytime Fatigue

Individuals who experience sleepwalking may often feel excessively tired the following day as a result of disrupted sleep patterns. Even if they have no recollection of the sleepwalking episode, they may still experience the negative effects the next day. Research has shown that teenagers who engage in sleepwalking tend to perform worse on vigilance tests compared to those who do not. Additionally, a study involving sleepwalking adults revealed a strong correlation between sleepwalking and daytime sleepiness, also known as somnolence.
