Understanding Drop Attacks in Meniere’s Disease
Drop attacks, a characteristic symptom of Meniere’s disease, are sudden and uncontrolled falls that occur without losing consciousness. These episodes often feel as if someone has forcefully pushed the individual from behind, causing them to abruptly descend to the ground. Interestingly, many individuals who experience drop attacks in Meniere’s disease are able to regain their composure and stand up without experiencing any significant discomfort or pain.
It is important to note that drop attacks are more commonly seen in the advanced stages of Meniere’s disease. However, it is worth mentioning that this particular symptom affects less than ten percent of individuals diagnosed with the condition.
Migraines and Meniere’s Disease
There is evidence suggesting that approximately one-third of individuals diagnosed with Meniere’s disease also experience migraine headaches. However, researchers have not yet established a definitive connection between the two conditions, although a correlation is possible. Fortunately, there are effective migraine medications available that can help alleviate this symptom for most patients.
