Treating Colic Pain with Asafoetida
Colic pain is a common issue among infants, often causing uncontrollable crying and discomfort. Asafoetida is known to be an effective remedy for relieving colic pain in infants. However, it is important to note that Asafoetida should not be administered directly to infants. To use Asafoetida for colic relief, you can create a paste and apply it on the baby’s stomach. It is crucial to ensure that the infant’s distress is specifically due to colic and not another underlying problem.
To make the paste, heat a teaspoon of water and add a quarter of a teaspoon of Asafoetida powder. Thoroughly mix the ingredients until a thin paste is formed. Gently apply the paste around the area of the baby’s navel, taking care to avoid applying it inside the navel. To protect the navel, use a wet cotton ball while applying the paste. Once the paste has dried, try to burp the baby, as this can further alleviate discomfort.
Analgesic properties
Asafoetida has been shown to possess analgesic properties, although the exact mechanism of action is not fully understood. Regardless of the source of pain, whether it be a stomach ache, injury, or tension headache, asafoetida can be safely used as an analgesic. It is believed that asafoetida helps alleviate pain by addressing the underlying conditions that contribute to it. For example, if the pain is caused by stomach bloating, asafoetida can help alleviate the bloating and subsequently reduce the pain. In the case of an injury or infection, asafoetida can reduce inflammation and help combat the infection.
