10 Home Remedies for an Ear Infection

2. Salt

There are two different home remedies you can use with salt. The first: If you have a small cloth bag, place heated salt into the bag, seal it up, and put it over your ear while lying down. Bits of moisture will drip into the ear and help to dry up the infection, plus the salt bag will alleviate the pain. Secondly: You can mix a saltwater solution and rinse your ears out with a few drops. Just remember not to dig around inside of your ears. You might damage them.

3. Basil (extract)

Not only is this herb fantastic for any sort of sauce you may want to make, but the extract of basil can also act as a potent antioxidant and a pain reliever. While you can actually extract the oil out of basil leaves yourself, it’s a pretty involved process. It’s going to be much easier to just buy a small bottle of basil extract. The good news here is that you can use it for a lot of different things, not just an earache. Rub a few drops around and on the inside of your ear, though not deep into the canal.
