10 Hyperhidrosis Symptoms

Hyperhidrosis, also known as excessive perspiration, can cause significant discomfort and embarrassment. This condition can occur without any known cause (idiopathic) or as a result of underlying medical conditions. Interestingly, hyperhidrosis can even happen in cold weather or during moments of relaxation. The symptoms experienced can vary depending on the underlying cause, leading to the classification of two types of hyperhidrosis: primary and secondary.

Primary Symptom: Localized Sweating

One of the primary symptoms of excessive sweating is localized or focal perspiration. This occurs when individuals experience excessive sweating in specific areas of the body while the rest of the body remains unaffected. Common areas that are prone to focal sweating include the underarms, palms of the hands, soles of the feet, or forehead. In these areas, individuals may experience profuse sweating, to the point where perspiration may literally drip.

Primary Symptom: Sweating on Both Sides of the Body

Individuals experiencing this symptom may notice excessive sweating on both sides of their body, including the armpits, groin, chest, back, and under the breasts. The perspiration can be so intense that it permeates multiple layers of clothing.
