10 Kidney Infection Signs and Symptoms

8. Bad Breath

Surprisingly enough, this symptom usually isn’t due to the infection itself. It more commonly occurs because of the other symptoms. Bad breath from kidney infections most commonly occurs due to the nausea, dehydration or vomiting that happens alongside this infection. The antibiotics may also cause bad breath.

The antibiotics do have any common side effect that can result in further dehydration and weight loss. Food may taste differently and can leave an odd metallic taste. This should be temporary and will stop once you discontinue the antibiotics.

9. Difficulty Breathing

While this may occur from kidney infections, it’s a very uncommon symptom. This more commonly occurs if you are experiencing kidney failure or if the bacteria has entered your blood and is causing sepsis. This symptom requires medical attention immediately. Whether it’s from sepsis or kidney failure, this will also make the kidney infection worse.
