Tree Nut Allergies: A Common Food Allergy
Tree nut allergies are prevalent and often considered one of the most common food allergies. Experts estimate that approximately one percent of the population is affected by a tree nut allergy. It is advised by medical professionals for individuals with an allergy to one or two types of tree nuts to avoid consuming all tree nuts, as it is possible to develop allergies to additional types over time. Some of the most commonly known tree nuts that can trigger allergies include pine nuts, Brazil nuts, pistachios, walnuts, and almonds.
Allergies to Eggs in Children
Many children commonly develop allergies to eggs, but the good news is that more than half of them will outgrow this allergy by the time they reach 16 years old. The specific component of the egg that triggers the allergic reaction can vary from person to person, with some individuals being sensitive to the egg yolk while others react to the egg white, specifically the proteins found in each. Symptoms of an egg allergy may include stomach ache, hives, breathing difficulties, or in severe cases, anaphylaxis.
