Nausea and Vomiting

Many patients with kidney stones complain of feeling nauseous. The nausea can be so severe that the patient ends up vomiting. One main cause of vomiting is the persistent pain experienced as the stone progresses. There may be another reason for vomiting as well. As the kidney stone impairs proper functioning of internal organs, the body is unable to eliminate toxins from the body, resulting in a high level of impurities in the bloodstream and ultimately leading to vomiting. This is the body’s way of expelling toxins.

Blood in the Urine

Many individuals with kidney stones notice a change in the consistency and color of their urine. Abnormal urine color can range from red to dark brown. When the kidney stone moves through the urinary tract, it scrapes against the ureter wall and causes small cuts that bleed and release blood into the urine. The condition of blood in the urine is called hematuria.
