Eye Infection: Herpes Keratitis
Herpes keratitis is a condition where the herpes virus spreads and infects one or both eyes, leading to an eye infection. This infection can cause several symptoms such as pain, blurred vision, light sensitivity, discharge, and a gritty sensation in the eyes. If not treated appropriately, severe infections can result in scarring, which may lead to impaired or clouded vision. The virus can be transmitted to the eye by touching or scratching a herpes blister and then touching or rubbing the eye.
Experiencing Discomfort while Swallowing
Herpes infections in the mouth can sometimes extend to the esophagus, which is the tube connecting the mouth to the stomach. This can lead to a condition known as herpes esophagitis, causing discomfort and difficulty when swallowing. In addition to these symptoms, individuals may also encounter nausea, chest pain, heartburn, and a mild fever. Typically, individuals with weakened immune systems are more susceptible to developing this complication.
