Bloody Urine: A Possible Sign of Kidney Stones
One common symptom experienced by individuals with kidney stones is a noticeable change in the color of their urine. This change in color occurs due to the presence of scrapes and cuts on the inner wall of the ureter. As the kidney stone travels through the ureter, it can cause bleeding, which then mixes with the urine and alters its appearance. The color of the urine can vary, ranging from a normal hue to shades of pink, red, or even dark brown. Medically, the presence of blood in the urine is referred to as hematuria.
