Common Symptoms of Ovarian Cysts
Ovarian cysts typically do not produce noticeable symptoms. However, in some cases, women may experience specific localized symptoms near the affected ovary. These symptoms can include pain, swelling, and aching sensations. The pain may be either sharp or dull and may occur intermittently in cycles. Additionally, some women may also experience bloating, lower back pain, frequent or difficult urination, and discomfort during sexual intercourse.
Systemic Symptoms of Ovarian Cysts
When it comes to ovarian cysts, it’s not just about the local symptoms. There are also general or systemic symptoms that may arise. These symptoms are not limited to the site of the cyst and are typically caused by hormonal imbalances associated with the affected ovary. Women may experience breast tenderness that surpasses their usual discomfort levels, unexpected bleeding that is unrelated to their menstrual cycle, unexplained weight gain, leg pain, bouts of nausea and vomiting, and an increase in premenstrual syndrome (PMS)-related symptoms.
