10 Symptoms and Treatments of Ovarian Cysts

Hormone Treatment for Ovarian Cysts

When it comes to ovarian cysts, many of them tend to resolve on their own without requiring any treatment. However, for women who experience severe and recurring cysts, a doctor may suggest hormone treatment in the form of birth control pills. The purpose of this treatment is to either halt or regulate ovulation. It is important to note that while some evidence supports the effectiveness of birth control pills in shrinking cysts, the results are not always conclusive. In certain cases, cysts may not respond to the medication and fail to decrease in size.

Laparoscopic Surgery: A Minimally Invasive Solution

When a cyst persists, becomes symptomatic, appears suspicious on an ultrasound, or necessitates a biopsy, laparoscopic surgery may be recommended as the least invasive treatment option. During this procedure, a small incision is made near the belly button, through which a tiny instrument is inserted to extract the cyst.
