10 Symptoms of Leukemia

Understanding Red Spots on the Skin: A Common Sign of Leukemia

Leukemia patients often experience the presence of red spots on their skin, medically known as petechiae. These tiny reddish dots, measuring less than 3 mm in diameter, manifest as a result of internal bleeding from small ruptured blood vessels. Additionally, individuals may also observe the occurrence of frequent and dark bruising. Both petechiae and bruises are attributed to a low platelet count, a condition that causes bleeding in the outermost layers of the skin.

Breathing Issues Associated with Leukemia

Leukemia, a form of cancer, can lead to various breathing problems. One common issue is the swelling of lymph nodes in the chest area, which can exert pressure on the windpipe, resulting in breathing difficulties, coughing, and wheezing. In addition to this physical obstruction, leukemia and other cancers can cause shortness of breath due to lung inflammation or infection, especially in cases of anemia. Moreover, stress and anxiety associated with the disease can also contribute to breathing discomfort. It is worth noting that individuals with leukemia may also experience pain while breathing.
