Effects of Brain Tumors on Vision, Hearing, and Speech
Brain tumors can have significant impacts on a person’s vision, hearing, and speech abilities. When a tumor exerts pressure on the optic nerve, it can result in blurred vision or double vision. Additionally, growths in this area can cause involuntary eye spasms or twitching. Apart from vision problems, tumors can also lead to slurred speech and even affect a person’s hearing abilities.
Convulsions and Brain Tumors
Convulsions or seizures can be a common symptom when a brain tumor starts to develop. Contrary to popular belief, the severity of the tumor does not directly cause these convulsions. In fact, seizures can occur during the early stages of a brain tumor and may even be more likely to happen during this period. It is not uncommon for new-onset seizures to be the first noticeable clinical symptom of a brain tumor.
