Dealing with Bruising
Bruising, although not as common as other symptoms, can still pose a problem. This occurs when blood vessels rupture, typically near the surface of the skin, leading to visible black and blue discoloration as well as pain. While bruising is generally not a major concern, it is important to take appropriate measures for treatment. There are several ways to alleviate bruising, such as taking medication or applying ice to the affected area until the discoloration subsides. It is crucial, however, to exercise caution in order to prevent further aggravation. For instance, wearing excessively tight clothing can exacerbate bruising, so it is advisable to avoid such garments to promote a speedy recovery.
Inability to Walk or Bear Weight
When it comes to hamstring injuries, there are varying degrees of severity. In the best-case scenario, you may still be able to walk or jog despite the injury. However, in more severe cases, the inability to bear weight on the affected leg can be a major issue. Since our legs provide support for our body, walking can become extremely challenging. The injured muscle will feel weak and unable to contract properly. Continuing to walk or engage in physical activity can worsen the tear and significantly impede your ability to walk. Therefore, it is crucial to cease all activities and allow your hamstring to rest and heal. If you experience pain, it is a clear indication that you should immediately stop any physical exertion.
