Challenges in Processing Images and Time Perception
Individuals with Alzheimer’s disease may experience difficulties in processing visual information. These difficulties can become apparent when attempting to read printed materials like books or newspapers, as the letters may appear blurry or it may be challenging to transition from one sentence to another. Additionally, judging the distance between objects can become problematic, leading to spatial perception issues. Another visual challenge is the ability to discern colors accurately, particularly certain shades or contrasts, which can make tasks like driving or identifying objects by color more challenging.
Challenges with Communication in Alzheimer’s Disease
Individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease often face difficulties in engaging in everyday conversations. This can pose challenges in communicating with their loved ones. Alzheimer’s patients frequently experience confusion and may struggle to recall the topic of the ongoing conversation. They may initiate a discussion but struggle to sustain it. Additionally, they may unintentionally repeat certain words or phrases. Another common issue is forgetting vocabulary or struggling to find the right words. They may also use the wrong names for objects or things. Furthermore, when attempting to describe objects or events, Alzheimer’s patients may have difficulty finding the appropriate words or expressions to convey their thoughts and emotions.
