10 Symptoms of an Ulcer

4. Abdominal Heaviness

The nausea symptom highlights how much ulcers are tied in with digestion. Sometimes digestive issues will trigger nausea. But other times people experience the exact opposite. Food just sits in their stomach without being properly digested. This is due to the ulcer slowing down the natural process of gastric emptying. In short, the ulcer makes it harder to digest food. This can make people feel overly full when they’ve hardly even started a meal. It can also result in a lengthy feeling of heaviness in their stomach after eating.

5. Indigestion

Contrary to the name, indigestion doesn’t automatically refer to an inability to digest food. The term instead refers to discomfort associated with digestion. This can range from excessive belching all the way to continual discomfort in someone’s stomach during the digestive process. Indigestion occurs with ulcers due to the condition’s relationship with stomach acid.
