10 Symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

Inability to Completely Empty the Bladder

The rare symptom of being unable to fully empty the bladder is an important aspect to consider in relation to BPH. Typically, urination brings a sense of relief, so it can be disconcerting to experience discomfort even after urinating. While increasing fluid intake may help if this is the only symptom present, it is advisable to consult a doctor if this inability arises along with other symptoms, to rule out any more severe conditions.

Genital Discomfort and BPH

One bothersome symptom associated with BPH is the experience of discomfort in the genital area. If you are feeling any discomfort in your genitals or if urination is accompanied by a burning sensation, it is possible that you have bladder stones. These stones develop as a result of an obstruction caused by the enlarged prostate, leading to the crystallization of urine and the formation of stones. The most frequently used treatment for bladder stones is a noninvasive procedure known as cystolitholapaxy.
