10 Symptoms of Carcinoid Tumor

Understanding Carcinoid Tumors of the Appendix

When it comes to tumors in the appendix, carcinoid tumors reign as the most prevalent. Interestingly, individuals with a carcinoid tumor in their appendix often do not experience any noticeable symptoms. Typically, these tumors are discovered incidentally during surgical procedures aimed at removing the appendix for unrelated reasons. However, if symptoms do manifest, they are generally nonspecific and do not directly indicate the presence of a carcinoid tumor in the appendix. Such symptoms may include abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting.

Small Intestine Carcinoid Tumors

Carcinoid tumors are commonly found in the small intestine, with the ileum being the most frequently affected area. These tumors can cause a condition known as jaundice, characterized by a yellowish discoloration of the skin and eyes.
