As cataracts start to develop, individuals often experience a heightened sensitivity to light. This sensitivity is particularly noticeable when exposed to harsh and bright lighting conditions. Glare from the sun or artificial sources can significantly disrupt daily activities such as driving or enjoying a movie at the theater.
Halos Around Light
When there is a cloudy film on the lens of the eye, it can sometimes cause the light entering the eye to diffract. As a result, glowing halos, which can appear in various colors, may be seen when looking at sources of light. Individuals with cataracts may experience a dimming of bright lights, such as computer screens, and may avoid environments with intense lighting, although this response is not always within their control.
