In fact, these stools can become as thin as a pencil, which is why they are commonly referred to as “pencil” stools.

Experiencing intense pain while trying to defecate, known as dyschezia, can be an alarming symptom potentially linked to colorectal cancer. In individuals, dyschezia is often accompanied by constipation. This condition, similar to constipation, may lead to straining during bowel movements, exacerbating the pain. Furthermore, bowel movements may become lengthier and take more than 10 minutes to finish.
