Similar Symptoms of Ear Infections and the Common Cold
When a virus or bacteria enters the body, the interconnected passageways of the ear, nose, and throat become susceptible to infection. In some cases, ear infections that go untreated or undetected can exhibit symptoms that closely resemble those of the common cold. These symptoms include a runny or congested nose, frequent sneezing, persistent coughing, and a sore throat. However, once an ear infection is diagnosed and appropriate treatment is initiated, these symptoms generally alleviate.
