Rush of Blood
Hot flash sufferers often describe the sensation of a rush of blood as starting from their toes and rapidly traveling upwards to their head. It feels like a pulsating wave that courses through the entire body. This experience can be explained by the fact that blood circulates throughout the body, so when it becomes warm, the effects can be felt everywhere. Sometimes, the rush may be limited to the upper body. As your heart rate increases during a hot flash, the upper body becomes the primary location where you feel the rush. However, the overall feeling of the rush of blood can be so intense that it may feel like it is overwhelming you and forcing you to sit down.
Headaches and Dizziness: A Common Combination
Experiencing a headache is a familiar sensation for many individuals. It typically manifests as a dull or sharp pain that can be felt throughout the entire head or localized to a specific area, often behind the eye. Interestingly, headaches and hot flashes often occur together, creating an uncomfortable combination of symptoms. In addition to the headache, one may also experience lightheadedness and dizziness, necessitating the need to stabilize oneself. Similar to a hot flash, the headache may subside once the flash dissipates. However, if these headaches are becoming more frequent or increasingly debilitating, it is advisable to consult a physician for proper evaluation and guidance.
