10 Symptoms of Liver Cirrhosis

8. Darker Urine

People who often drink have very clear urine, as it’s the alcohol flushing from their kidneys. Though when sober, if this urine turns dark yellow, it can be a sign that your liver is now suffering from cirrhosis. This is an opportunity to see a doctor and to have things checked out. The darker color is caused by bilirubin, which is produced in higher quantities due to a failing liver. It happens when the red blood cells begin to break down. So, in essence, you’re urinating blood.

9. Jaundice

Jaundice is another condition caused by bilirubin, where your red blood cells are breaking down. Though it’s not only your urine that’s colored with jaundice; it’s actually your skin. Your skin, along with the whites of your eyes, can start to turn yellow on you. This is an appearance that’s unmistakable, and signifies that you almost certainly have cirrhosis, or at least some liver issue that needs to be corrected immediately.

10. An Enlarged Liver

In order to tell how your liver is doing inside of your body, you will need to go see a doctor and have some tests completed. The good news is that the doctor may be able to spot a growing liver early on. What happens if left untreated is that your liver expands and then it contracts, and once that happens, it’s going to shut down. From there, your only options are a transplant or death.
