10 Symptoms of Muscular Dystrophy

Struggles with Sitting or Standing Up

Challenges can arise when trying to sit up or stand from a seated position, even though it may appear effortless. Muscular dystrophy can weaken the muscles, making it hard to perform everyday tasks. Standing up involves pushing off from the feet, with the muscles tightening and flexing until the person is fully upright. As the muscles continue to deteriorate, the act of sitting or standing up becomes increasingly arduous.

Trouble with Running or Jumping

People with muscular dystrophy often experience challenges when it comes to running and jumping. The progressive weakening of the muscles can make these activities extremely difficult for individuals with muscular problems. This symptom may not be immediately noticed as it can fluctuate over time. For instance, a child with muscular dystrophy may appear to be running effortlessly in the park one moment, but then struggle to jump over an obstacle or push off the ground with their legs while swinging.
