Unusual Nasal Discharge with Blood Stains
When it comes to nasopharyngeal cancer, the array of symptoms it presents often overlap with those of various other conditions. One such symptom that can be easily mistaken for a sinus infection is blood-stained nasal discharge. However, it is important to note that if this discharge or bleeding is excessive and persistent, it is crucial to seek immediate medical attention.
Headaches: A Potential Symptom of Nasopharyngeal Cancer
Research indicates that chronic headaches occurring on one side of the head may serve as an initial sign of nasopharyngeal cancer. Regrettably, this symptom is often overlooked or misidentified. A study conducted at the Xiangya School of Medicine involving over 200 participants revealed that five percent of them experienced chronic headaches as their primary symptom prior to diagnosis. Additionally, twenty-five percent of the subjects reported both a headache and a lump on their neck. However, it is important to note that nasopharyngeal cancer is an extremely rare condition, making it highly unlikely for a headache alone to be directly attributed to the presence of a nasal tumor.
