Fatigue
Understanding the Symptoms of Polymyalgia Rheumatica: Fatigue
One of the common symptoms experienced by individuals with polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) is fatigue. Although fatigue alone may not be enough to diagnose the disorder, it is frequently reported by those affected. Many people with PMR struggle with falling asleep, leading to poor sleep quality and subsequent daytime fatigue.
Interestingly, some individuals with PMR may resist resting or going to bed due to the anticipation of experiencing more severe symptoms upon waking up. This reluctance to rest further contributes to the overall fatigue experienced throughout the day.
Weight Loss and Polymyalgia Rheumatica
Weight loss can be a common occurrence in individuals with polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR). There are several factors that may contribute to this unintended weight loss, with one of the primary causes being a decreased food intake due to a loss of appetite. In addition, individuals with PMR who also suffer from depression may experience an even greater lack of appetite, further exacerbating their weight loss.
