Sleep Apnea Signs and Symptoms

Mood Swings

Sleep deprivation can lead to various mood swings, including depression, irritability, and anxiety. These mood changes can be associated with sleep apnea, insomnia, or other sleep disorders. When chronic fatigue sets in, it can escalate into severe depression. In addition, the inability to concentrate on everyday tasks can cause irritability, anxiety, and impatience. Frustration from the lack of focus can quickly turn into sudden bursts of irritability and impatience.

Lack of Interest in Sexual Activity

When it comes to sexual desire, testosterone plays a crucial role for both men and women. During sleep, testosterone levels tend to increase, contributing to a healthy sex drive. However, if testosterone levels fail to rise adequately, it can lead to a decrease in libido.

In men, a lack of testosterone can result in erectile dysfunction, making it difficult to achieve or maintain an erection. On the other hand, women may experience issues such as decreased sexual sensation and desire due to insufficient testosterone in their bodies.

While hormone replacement therapy can be an option for low testosterone, it is important to note that it may worsen or even cause sleep apnea. Therefore, it is not recommended as a treatment if sleep apnea is the underlying cause of low testosterone.
