10 Symptoms of Staph Infection

Signs of Infection in Wounds

When you have a wound on your skin, there is a possibility of it getting infected with staph bacteria. If the healing process seems unusually slow, it could be an indication of an infection. There are two clear indicators that a wound is infected: the presence of pus or liquid trapped in or leaking from the wound, and the development of an unpleasant odor. It is crucial to seek immediate treatment from a qualified healthcare professional in order to prevent further complications that may arise from prolonging the infection.

Peeling Skin

Staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome (SSSS) is a severe form of a staph skin infection that can cause the skin to blister and peel. This condition occurs when the staph bacteria beneath the skin releases a toxin, which makes its way to the surface. The affected skin will appear red and extremely painful, similar to the sensation of severe sunburn or scalding from hot water. Additionally, individuals with SSSS may experience a high internal temperature, and the affected area will exhibit peeling skin. Unfortunately, this condition is most commonly found in children under the age of five years.
