When it comes to adenovirus infections, the symptoms are usually mild and not too severe. However, the way it affects individuals can vary. Some of the most frequently experienced symptoms include fever, a sore throat, a persistent cough, headaches, a runny nose, swollen lymph nodes, and difficulty breathing. In cases where the virus targets the intestinal tract, people may also experience watery diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal swelling, and general pain.
When Do Symptoms Usually Appear After Exposure?
When it comes to respiratory infections, symptoms can manifest as soon as two days after being exposed to the virus. However, in certain cases, it may take up to two weeks for symptoms to show. On the other hand, if it’s an intestinal tract infection, symptoms generally develop within a range of three to ten days. Although most adenovirus infections last around three to five days, it is not uncommon for some to persist for over a week.
