10 Tips to Help Relax Restless Leg Syndrome

2. Stretching

Your muscles and nerves share functionality in your body. In patients with RLS, it is believed that the nerves messaging the leg muscles are somehow misfiring. This might not be entirely cured by stretching exercises, but it can help to open those muscles up, making them looser and a lot less susceptible to misfirings by the nerves. Basically what this means is that your RLS symptoms may not be so pronounced if you mix in different things like yoga and Pilates into your routine. Anything that helps your legs actually rest is a welcomed relief.

3. Iron Supplements

You have a lot of iron in your blood, or at least you’re supposed to. Iron is what gives you healthy blood, and this in turn helps to keep your nerves and muscles healthy. People who are lacking iron and have RLS may find some symptom relief by taking iron supplements. This is due to the fact that your body’s ferritin levels will be balanced correctly with the proper amount of iron in your system. To that end, other vitamins can also help, such as D3, C and E.
