Removing Clothes to Prevent Heat Stroke

Heat stroke is a common condition caused by overexertion in hot weather. Individuals experiencing heat stroke are often fully clothed, which can further increase their body temperature. To help cool down a patient and reduce their body temperature, it is important to remove as many layers of clothing as possible.

Immediate removal of any excess outer layers, such as sweatshirts, hats, sweatbands, and shoes, is crucial. Additionally, if the person is wearing tight-fitting or restrictive clothing, it is advisable to remove primary clothes like shirts and pants. These types of garments can trap heat and worsen the condition.


Immerse in Refreshing Water

To alleviate the symptoms of heat stroke, one effective method is to immerse the affected individual in cool water. The recommended approach involves filling a bathtub with cool water and assisting them in entering the tub. However, caution should be exercised when opting for a cool shower as it may pose a risk of falls, and should only be considered if the person is fully alert. In the absence of a bathtub or shower, alternative sources such as pools, streams, or ponds with cool water can also serve the purpose. By utilizing any of these resources, the body temperature will rapidly decrease, providing relief and cooling down the person’s core.
