Decompression Surgery: A More Powerful Solution for Pinched Nerves
When a pinched nerve is causing excruciating pain and a steroid injection fails to provide relief, decompression surgery becomes the next viable option. This surgical procedure offers two conventional approaches for treating spondylosis. The first method involves removing the tissue that is exerting pressure on the affected nerve, a process known as decompression surgery. Surgeons typically perform decompression surgeries, such as facetectomies or laminectomies, from the posterior region of the spine. However, in cases where the spinal cord obstructs access, surgeons may opt for a corpectomy which requires an anterior approach.
