Understanding Food Poisoning
Food poisoning is a common occurrence that many individuals will face at some point in their lives. This condition occurs when harmful bacteria enter the body through improperly cooked food, contaminated surfaces, or consuming contaminated food, such as an unnoticed cracked egg. While most cases of food poisoning only cause abdominal pain for a short duration, usually a day or two, severe instances can result in discomfort for up to a week or even ten days.
Understanding GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease)
GERD, also known as acid reflux or heartburn, is a condition characterized by the regurgitation of stomach acid and food back into the esophagus. Typically, stomach acids aid in the digestion process. However, when the esophageal sphincter, a valve that prevents the backward flow of stomach acid and food, becomes weakened, it allows the stomach acid to travel upwards into the esophagus and sometimes even up to the throat. This results in a painful sensation that originates from the abdomen and extends all the way up.
