Lowers Cholesterol

Avocado’s high content of monounsaturated fatty acids, commonly known as the “good kind of fat,” has a positive impact on cholesterol levels. Research conducted in 1996 at the Archives of Medical Research examined the effects of an avocado-enriched diet on 15 healthy individuals and 30 hypercholesterolemic subjects. The study revealed that those with high cholesterol experienced a significant decrease in serum total cholesterol by 17 percent, a 22 percent reduction in LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, and an 11 percent increase in HDL cholesterol.

Moreover, a separate study compared individuals following an avocado-rich diet to those adhering to a restricted saturated-fat diet. Surprisingly, both groups experienced comparable reductions in cholesterol and lipoprotein levels.

Avocado has been found to have cancer-fighting properties, according to research. It contains phytochemicals that are believed to play a crucial role in preventing cancer. These compounds have antioxidative properties, which means they can inhibit the growth of both precancerous and cancerous cells.
