Researchers have found that dark chocolate can reduce hypertension with as little as 50 calories worth a day. It’s believed that this is due to flavanol, an element commonly found in dark chocolate.

This type of fruit has an amino acid called I-citrulline, currently being tested to be antihypertensive. This is due to its ties to nitric oxide, an element that can help with blood vessel dilation.
