The market is flooded with celebrity endorsements and personal stories, but when it comes to objective evidence supporting these alleged benefits, the well runs dry.


Understanding Alkaline Water

Alkaline water is a term used to describe the pH level of a water-based solution. The pH scale ranges from zero to 14, with acidic substances having a lower pH and alkaline substances having a higher pH. Standard water has a neutral pH of seven, while substances like white vinegar have an acidic pH of 2.5. On the other hand, baking soda has a more alkaline pH of nine.

Spring water naturally contains minerals that contribute to its alkalinity, typically ranging from eight to nine on the pH scale. However, ionized water undergoes an electrical process to eliminate acidic ions and increase its alkaline properties. Additionally, the alkalinity of ionized water can be further enhanced by adding minerals and salts.

Many people believe that maintaining an alkaline state in the body can lead to improved health and well-being. This belief is based on the idea that acidity in the body is a major contributor to various diseases and conditions, while an alkaline state is considered to be healthier. Advocates of the alkaline diet promote the consumption of alkaline foods and beverages as a means to reduce and even reverse illnesses.
