Understanding Charcot Foot
Charcot foot is a condition that commonly affects individuals with diabetes or peripheral neuropathy. The reduced sensitivity in the feet makes it difficult for them to identify injuries promptly. As a result, the condition often progresses unnoticed, leading to severe deformities before a proper medical diagnosis is made. Over time, the bones in the foot become weakened, causing the arch to collapse. Additionally, other bones within the foot may also fracture.
Symptoms of Flat Feet
The symptoms of flat feet can vary depending on the underlying cause. If the condition is caused by Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction (PTTD), individuals may experience pain that radiates from the inner side of the foot towards the calf. Additionally, swelling in the ankle area may also be present. For those with diabetes, initial symptoms may go unnoticed, but over time, they may observe swelling or develop skin sores on the soles of the feet that are slow to heal.
