Reduced Risk of Recurrent Heart Attack
A study conducted in 2019 has indicated that individuals who consume their dinner within two hours of bedtime and skip breakfast after experiencing a heart attack are significantly more likely to face death, another heart attack, or angina within 30 days of being discharged from the hospital. Medical professionals believe that this increased risk is attributed to the body’s inflammatory response and oxidative stress. When we eat, our intake often includes salts, carbohydrates, and other foods that have the potential to raise blood pressure. During sleep, blood pressure naturally decreases. However, when we consume food too close to bedtime without giving our bodies enough time to digest it and reduce blood pressure, the pressure remains high throughout the night. This prolonged elevation in blood pressure can consequently heighten the risk of a heart attack.
