Balancing Your Kids’ Screen Time

Rainy Days: Embracing the Unexpected

Life is full of unpredictable moments, and rainy days are no exception. When the weather takes a turn for the worse, it can limit our options for outdoor activities and disrupt our plans. Similarly, busy schedules can sometimes hinder parents from dedicating their full attention to their children. Additionally, even children themselves experience off days and require downtime to recharge. Rather than imposing rigid rules about screen time, it is important to acknowledge and embrace these rainy days. Remember, there will always be another chance for quality family time and outdoor adventures.

Set Realistic Expectations

When it comes to implementing device restrictions for children, it is important for guardians to be realistic. It is not realistic to suddenly expect children to adhere to strict time limits on their devices. Instead of immediately imposing a recommendation of one to two hours per day, it is advisable to start with smaller goals and gradually increase them over time.

A good starting point could be to cut screen time in half. This allows children to adjust to the new restrictions without feeling overwhelmed. Additionally, it can be helpful to redirect their screen time from passive activities such as watching TV to more active games or engaging content.
