Additionally, if cholestasis is induced by medication, it often subsides once the individual ceases taking the drug.
Complications of Cholestasis
When cholestasis persists for a prolonged period, it can give rise to various complications. The itching caused by jaundice can be extremely intense and may lead to the formation of sores on the skin due to excessive scratching. Furthermore, the inadequate absorption of nutrients in the small intestine over time can result in malnutrition and weakened bones.
