Cause: Eye Inflammation
Eye inflammation, known as uveitis, encompasses various inflammatory conditions that target the uvea, the middle layer of tissue in the eyewall. Although infections are often the cause, other factors such as toxins, autoimmune disorders, and physical injuries can also trigger this condition. Uveitis manifests in different forms, each with its own set of symptoms, and one of the prevalent symptoms experienced by many is the presence of floaters. These floaters typically occur when the disease prompts the release of inflammatory cells into the vitreous humor, the gel-like substance within the eye.
Cause: Eye Damage
Eye damage is a common cause for the development of floaters. When the vitreous, a gel-like substance in the eye, is damaged due to trauma, it can lead to detachment, bleeding, or inflammation. In some cases, serious injuries can result in the appearance of eye floaters. For instance, repeated blows to the head or eye area can cause the retina to tear or detach. Combat sport athletes who frequently experience trauma to the head or eye area are especially susceptible to these types of injuries.
