Common Causes of Blurred Vision

Understanding Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a condition that manifests in various forms, all of which have one common factor: increased pressure within the eye. This elevated pressure can result in blurry vision and has the potential to damage the optic nerve, causing disruptions in the transmission of signals to the brain. Typically, glaucoma leads to a gradual deterioration of vision, often displaying intermittent symptoms.

Migraines and Headaches

Migraines and headaches can cause throbbing pain and also affect vision. Blurred vision or an “aura” is often one of the first symptoms of a migraine. This blurred vision usually lasts for a few hours and is accompanied by a headache. During a severe headache or migraine, it is helpful to rest the eyes as it can alleviate both the pain and vision problems experienced during such episodes.
