Common Symptoms of Angioedema

Causes of Discolored Rash

A discolored rash on the skin can be attributed to various factors, with swelling being the primary cause. Angioedema, a condition characterized by facial puffiness, often leads to a pinkish-red shade on the affected skin. It is important to note that the skin may appear white when pressure is applied to the red area, a phenomenon known as blanching. However, once the pressure is released, the color of the skin will return to its original pink or red hue. In some cases, a discolored rash may be accompanied by the presence of hives or a rash.

Respiratory Complications

Allergic reactions can sometimes result in respiratory problems, although this is a relatively uncommon occurrence. When an allergic reaction causes the throat to swell, it can lead to a condition known as angioedema, which can be dangerous. Typically, this symptom is mild and tends to improve as the reaction subsides. However, in cases where the swelling around the throat worsens rapidly, it can potentially lead to asphyxiation. If you find yourself having difficulty breathing due to an allergic reaction, it is crucial to call emergency services at 9-1-1 immediately.
