Cutaneous Candidiasis Skin Infection

Treatment for Cutaneous Candidiasis

When it comes to treating cutaneous candidiasis, there are several effective options available. Topical antifungal medications such as creams, powders, and liquids are commonly used to eliminate the infection. In most cases, these interventions provide satisfactory results.

However, individuals who experience persistent infections or have weakened immune systems may need a more aggressive and long-term treatment approach. In such cases, oral or intravenous antifungal medications may be prescribed. These stronger medications are especially beneficial for those who have developed a resistance to other treatment methods.

Prognosis

Recovery from cutaneous candidiasis typically occurs without treatment, as long as the root cause is addressed. However, it is not uncommon for recurrent infections to develop, although they usually resolve on their own. Individuals with weakened immune systems, who are unable to effectively combat a candida infection, may experience more complex colonizations.
